Our Origin of the Species recording series is continuing, and the works of Auguste Mimart have been uncovered in this recording. The album moves along the evolution of brass chamber music, delivering a complete collection of Mimart’s Quintettes and Septuors.
Performed on period instruments, this recording provides a new reference point for the performance practices of 19th century brass chamber music era in which these were composed. It is also a valuable re-introduction of this significant brass ensemble repertoire.
Scholarly editions of the works are scheduled to be published by The Music Company (UK) Ltd later this year.
